History
Built before the XIth century by Tigullian people, Bonassola has a very interesting past: in the XVI th century the first Italian social security was created there, with the pourpose to free Turkish pirate's prisoners. The history of Bonassola has always been closely bound to the relationship between the people and the sea: in the XIX th century Bonassola had an important sailing ship fleet, and the inhabitants found wealth and success through trade and shipping. The most important monuments are the Castle and the Tower of Arduiner Dynasty (XVI th century), St. Caterina's Church and Matteo Vinzoni's house (XVII th century).

Environment
The countryside of Bonassola is the perfect environment for the wide assortment of typical flowers and fruits of the Medioterranean area: oleanders, bouganvillea, brooms, olive and pine tree, aromatic herbs and citrus fruit.

Climate
The exceptional cleanliness of the air in Bonassola is due to the resinous richness of pine, to the ozonized atmosphere and to very small particles of iodine coming from a very pure sea. Its climate is recommended to people suffering from heart and breathing organ troubles, or affected with digestive tract diseases, or nervous troubles.
